Here is the film advert from the 2010 hit Prince of Persia. As you can see the name of the film automatically reflects to the main character shown in the centre in a long shot.

Firstly, the grey and misty clouds in the background could connote to the audience that war is occurring or difficult times are in hand for the main character. Overall the background creates a very mysterious impression of the movie. However, the title at the top of the poster “Defy the future” denotes that there may be trouble within the storyline which could be due to conflict.
Furthermore, from the characters serious facial expression, this could denote and signify to the audience that he is the only one that can save people or perhaps stop evil things occurring in the movie. From an audience’s point of view, the mood is mystifying and suggests that the movie may have ‘thriller’ scenes and action packed moments.

The representation of the advert is very simple as there is only one close up shot of the “prince” in the centre to instantly engage the audience, especially with the character in a combative stance which furthermore emphasises action and excitement. This type of shot is effective because it allows the audience to see the facial expressions closely which denotes seriousness and could connote passion and pride. Also, there is only a small amount of writing which creates a simple yet effective advert because as a viewer, you don’t want too much information as it short and snappy but yet engaging like this advert successfully does.

Furthermore, the composition and colours used in the advert all fit together perfectly and work together to create an effective advert where it successfully engages their target audience into persuading them to watch the film.
