Media texts are profit motivated
Alot of media texts these days are all profit motivated, this raises alot of issues as the owners of these media institutions are gaining more and more power up to the point where all the different institutions may work with each other so that in the end this group will end up with more power to control what we know about the world, both politically & socially. This is a big worry as companies may be able to brain wash the publics views and opinions and control what the people see, read and think.

Furthermore, as media institutions are very much profit motivated They appear to be only promoting the product just so that the advertisements within the programme looks good, which in turn, makes the company look good and raises profits and worth. Therefore, If the advertisment promotes the product well it makes the people want to begin to buy the product due to the good quality of the advert. Which will increase the profit of the product and the profits of the instituion reponsible for showing the advertisement.

Media Companies & Power

Many times across the world, Media texts have been used as propaganda which is bluntly misleading information. Many media companies, who produce advertisements, produce advertisements that are misleading as they make the product seem so much more worth it than it actually is.

This therefore influences the audience who see the advertisement to buy the product just because the advert looks amazing and many times after buying the products they will be very much disappointed that they have spent so much money on a rubbish product that was just glammed up on its advertisement to look better than it is.

Furthermore, this shows that media institutions are so powerful and that they are having a financial influence on the public and should be in some way regulated.

A good example of the Media power is wars which are taking part in a different continent. The media are in control of what content we receive, regarding the happenings of events halfway across the world as they only show the soldiers to be good within the media texts, however it may be that the soldiers have intimidated the militia and cause them to attack but media institutions have so much power that they may choose not to publish this and we would only see the views of the soldier and not hear the other side of the story.
